Background: I was tasked with creating a series of illustration-focused posters for a conceptual advertising campaign for a brand of my choice. The Vans youthful culture of rebellion and creative energy presented a welcome challenge when conceptualizing a concrete illustration identity for the poster series.

Design core: I went with a style that references graffiti, street art, and adolescent angst. The subject matter and style of the posters gives a playful edge to the theme of the brand.

Favorite Details: The gruesome depictions of the skaters bring an “Off the wall” attitude that complements the youthfulness and brave, rebellious character of the Vans brand identity.

Time constraints: This project was completed in under three weeks and consisted of lots of different compositional roughs and thumbnail sketches. A creative and innovative solution was found within the time constraints.
